Meet the Trash Can Man! He can't wait to visit your school VERY SOON — to turn trash into (scientific) treasure.

To help prep you for his visit, ​the Trash Can Man (or Trashy) would like to share a few rubbishy facts and figures — plus, he has a few garabagey questions for you. You'll find all of this information in the video above, as well as in the notes below...

JUST THE FACTS...

• Around 99% of everything we buy is thrown out within 6 months

• Australians produce around 74.1 tonnes of waste each year

  • That includes ALL waste from every home, school and business​

  • That's around 2.94 tonnes of waste per person!

• In Australia, we recycle around:

  • 90% of all metal​

  • 60% of all paper

  • 59% of all glass

  • 13% of all plastic

3. Did you use the correct bin?

4. Are there any bins in the room that you are in right now? How many other bins can you find around your school?
